“My First Wife” worth 3.5/5

Our recent screening of Australian film “My First Wife” drew a mixed response from the audience. Some found its raw honesty too much, others found it a brave exposure of the raw emotions which inevitably arise with such a life-changing event as the breakup of a marriage. Certainly, no one left feeling uplifted, although the last scene showing the two protagonists united through their child gave some semblance of hope for a civilised resolution of their unhappiness. A brave movie for its time and fairly unusual in that it did not follow the usual Australian theme of “quirky” subjects.
Overall average score was 3.5 out of 5.
