Black comedy “Wild Target” scored an impressive 4.2 out of 5 average from the audience on Friday night. Interestingly, a few people disliked it, but, judging from the roars of laughter, most found it very funny. Certainly, the script was over the top, and the actors played it up for all they are worth, but the British do films about murder and mayhem better than anyone. It takes a particular style of imagination to envisage a mother berating her son for not getting married and at the same time for lowering the family’s reputation for excellence in assassination! Bill Nighy was a walking advertisement for a bad moustache, Emily Blunt was deliciously amoral and Rupert Everett must have enjoyed himself as an art-loving thug. Good fun all round.
